A crime dramedy starring Melissa George.
6 x 60 min episodes.
Written and created by New Zealanders Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, Ms. X centers on a suburban mum (George) who teams up with an old high school friend to scare her cheating husband into staying faithful. But when things turn (accidentally) homicidal, she is pulled into a criminal underworld, caught between the cops, the cartel and a vicious PTA.
Set in contemporary Auckland, Ms. X explores the razor-thin line between domesticity and danger as Mia and her oddball partner-in-crime Oscar Clarke - equal parts charming and useless - and themselves entangled in the web of the criminal underworld. Armed with nothing but maternal instincts, some basic paramedic training, and a deep desire to shake up her predictable life, Mia transforms from housewife to unexpected criminal mastermind - discovering a newfound power and a taste for chaos along the way. Each step deeper pulls Mia further from her old life and closer to the truth of her husband’s secrets, while strange new skills learnt in the criminal world start to spill over into her home life.
Gritty, surreal, funny and uncomfortably plausible, Ms. X is a story of friendship, reinvention, and the extraordinary things ordinary people will do to survive suburbia.
